Nestled in the heart of Safety Harbor, Florida, Folly Farms Nature Preserve is a breathtaking 10-acre oasis that offers something for everyone. Whether you’re a nature lover, a family looking for a day out, or someone who enjoys community events, this serene preserve has you covered.
Folly Farms wasn’t always a nature preserve. Originally a horse farm, this land carries a rich history. In 2014, it was handed over to the City of Safety Harbor and later opened to the public in 2017, transforming into a community treasure.
Folly Farms boasts a wide array of attractions:
Common Ground Community Garden: A space where locals come together to cultivate fresh produce and nurture their green thumbs.
Hiking Loop: A peaceful 0.75-mile trail that meanders through lush greenery, perfect for a gentle walk or a refreshing jog.
Butterfly Garden: A vibrant haven where colorful butterflies flutter among the flowers, creating a magical ambiance.
Playground: A fun area for kids to let loose and explore.
The walking trail is full of unexpected whimsical treats. One highlight is the Wind Phone, a unique feature that allows visitors to connect with someone they miss dearly. As the only wind phone in Florida, it draws people from far and wide, offering a deeply moving experience.
Another delight along the trail is the butterfly-shaped path, where visitors can reflect and unwind. It’s impossible not to smile as you stroll along this enchanting route.
Keep an eye out for gnome-themed surprises too—gnomes are a big deal here! Don’t be surprised to see people donning gnome hats as they explore the grounds.
